International Women’s Day - free online events for female business owners and entrepreneurs

To celebrate International Women’s Day The Mama Hive, the women’s business network celebrating all female entrepreneurs, freelancers and small business owners, today announced a series of FREE online events taking place throughout March. The events are aimed at female business owners in Hertfordshire, supporting women post-COVID, in partnership with Hertfordshire Districts and County Councils, including Watford Borough Council, and funded by the Health Protection Board.

The past two years have been difficult for businesses and with the Covid pandemic having exposed how, at large, the responsibility of childcare falls on women, female businesses and female founders have suffered significantly. The March events are completely free to attend and open to all women, whether they already have a business, getting back into business or are thinking about starting one.

The Mama Hive, Hertfordshire Districts and County Councils and Health Protection Board are on a mission to support women, ensuring they will flourish in business, in a Covid world.

Take part in events that empower and support women

The free online events are all inclusive in offering support to females in business no matter how far along in their business journey they currently are. They are here to celebrate the power of women supporting women and inspiring you to go the extra mile, these include:

  • International Women’s Day event: It will be featuring a panel of fantastic female entrepreneurs, sharing their stories of building a business and celebrating achievements, talking about breaking the bias, which is this year’s international theme. Confirmed to take part, with more to follow, includes: Lauren Derrett, founder of Wear Em Out and Elisha Rai, founder of Folc wine.

  • Nourish to flourish: A female founder series with four one-hour workshops focused on you, as a business owner. These workshops will be focused on some of the key issues The Mama Hive community knows that women in business face. This includes topics such as confidence, imposter syndrome, setting boundaries, and embracing failure. Confirmed to lead these workshops are inspiring coaches, motivational speakers and entrepreneurs Sonya Barlow, Sam Wright, Jenny Garrett OBE and Keri Jarvis.

  • Speed networking sessions: two smile provoking sessions to help build connections and get to know other women in business. Informal, fun and a great opportunity to rebuild/grow your business post-COVID.

All events are free to attend online, enabling anyone to take part, across the county.

Watford Borough Council and its partners want to be able to support as many women as possible. Women are stronger together and with support and community great things can be achieved. These elements are invaluable to small businesses, especially as we navigate the current world together.

Jess Sizeland, founder of The Mama Hive said of the partnership: “we are thrilled to be partnering with Hertfordshire Districts and County Councils on these inspiring and empowering events throughout March. At The Mama Hive we are all about women supporting women and being able to do this as part of International Women’s Day is just fantastic and captions everything, we as a community represent.”
